Junky Style: Autumn OOTD

Its finally Autumn! One of my favorite times of the year. Here is an OOTD on a bright and breezy Monday perfect for a mini shoot! I incorporated a blue/cream polka dot blouse with a transitional season pleated skirt (add tights as it gets colder). Plus, you can never go wrong with nude heels! I hope you all ENJOY..........

Junky Epiphany: Ignore the Size on the Label (and 100th POST)

In general, we as fashion junkies, find gratification in the little things, and  squeezing into a size 2 or 4 are nothing short of those "little things". We (I say "we" so I dont personally feel singled out) equate wiggling into that LBD, one size smaller a success, rather than grabbing the "right" size and fitting in it comfortably. It's these small wins that bring such great joy to our lives. However, Im not sure if you can call it a victory if jumping up and down, lying down on the bed, or recruiting a special guest to help you zip/button that size 4 is a part of the "sucess". Needless to say, if there is any kind of struggle to put it on, guess what??? You shouldn't be wearing it! Rather, we should find it gratifying to find that piece tailored to our body, and that feels custom made just for you (YES YOU).

Whether it be a size 4 or 14, you want to make sure that item fits you the way the designer intended or the way you imagined it in your head (minus the screaming shirt buttons and the tugging fabrics). Come to think of it, I rather my clothes fit me perfectly than to try and wedge myself in the last size 4 on the rack. I know we all have seen the lone clothing item on the rack, and it being one size smaller than what we would typically pick up, we shrug it off and buy it anyway. We buy it, not only because it is the last one, but because we might be able to make the size work. ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT! Just because you kinda sorta can make it work by putting a jacket over the partially zipped zipper (we are all guilty)you buy it! #STOPTHEFOOLERY PUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!! You dont have to get it. Its strange we would feel more confident in a dress that is a size smaller than we would if  a dress actually fits you properly one size up.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Fashion Junkies slowly back away from the one size too small and find the size that is most flattering to your body even if that is a size 12. You're Welcome (you'll thank me later)!

Junky Tip: Lasting Impressions

I am totally against all things cliche, but I must agree that "your first impression is a lasting impression". Many times in life we are faced with only one opportunity, and when opportunity comes-a-knockin, BE READY!!! Being a fashion/lifestyle blogger you realize how important makeup and looking your best at all times is important to your brand. Over the past year or so I have been becoming more and more into lipstick. I LOVE LIPSTICK, BUT I HATE HAVING TO REAPPLY AND REAPPLY!! The perfect lip color can bring together the perfect look, but of any other makeup option it usually requires the most touch ups. If you think about it; we eat, drink and talk throughout the day and it constantly fades with every sip, bite, and word. Thanks to this lip trick; you are sure to leave a lasting impression.

                                    Junky Tip:

Make sure lips are moistened with a lip balm since skin in this area is prone to dryness (my fave is Rosebud Salve Lip Balm. 8oz Tin). Apply a lip liner that is the same color or in the same color family as the lip color you chose. Apply a small amount of foundation to your lips to create an even base and mute out your natural lip pigmentation. In addition, it will help the lip color stand out. Use a lip brush to apply the lip color. The brush will give your lips not only a fuller effect, but it will cover all parts of the lip that the actual lipstick applicator may not reach. Covering all the NOOKS and CRANNIES of the lip is a must! For a finishing touch, lightly apply a lip gloss (my fave mac clear lip glass) across the lips to seal it all in! Then its complete.

Junky News Flash:Poshmark

Poshmark

As of late, I have completely been addicted to this new app I discovered for the iPad and the iPhone called Poshmark. Poshmark is a a mix between eBay, Craigslist, and your favorite consignment shop. Tottaly addctive, it's like the new Facebook or Pintrest, but strictly for fashion junkies. Poshmark gives you the opportunity to buy, sell, and even trade, YES TRADE; to up the anty on your fall/winter wardrobe or whatever you "need". You sign up,  create a username, upload pictures of things you want to sell or trade (or not), and open your closet to the rest of the world. Poshmark does take commission on all sales of 20%, and has a flat $7 shipping on all transactions, but it's not too bad if you ask me. Poshmark will even invite you to "fashion parties" featuring specific trends or designers. In fact, I think I'm running fashionably late for a "Girls Night Out Party", and tomorrow I am attending a "Gucci, Dior, and Fendi Party at 4PM EST. Fancy Schmancy stuff! If you sign up you can get in on on some serious designer partying too. Make sure to bring a DD, cause things can get a little #CrayCray, yeah don't let me ever say that again out loud. Any-who, Happy Shopping Junkies!!

Sign up and check out my closet, and come say #heygirlhey (shout out to ProFresh)

Username:sequinsloveglam

I want you to join my fashion shopping network on Poshmark. The more people who join our network, the more closets we can shop together! Download the free iPhone app today and sign up with code HPROZ to get started with a $5 shopping credit. POSHMARK APP
See you in the app!
